Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of June. This month saw a lot of photos of flowers and birds (with babies!) plus a few landscapes just for fun. I hope you enjoy the images and the stories behind them. If you like my photos please feel free to share them with your friends using the social media links at the bottom of the page. Thank you!

If you follow me regularly you probably know that Long Lake Provincial Park in Halifax is one of my go-to destinations for landscape photography. A large wilderness park in the heart of the city presents an amazing opportunity to capture scenes like this:
June is Lady’s Slipper month in Nova Scotia. I found this pair of slippers on one of my hikes in the forest. The light was perfect so I got down on my knees and grabbed a few (hundred) images. This was my favourite.
This beauty popped up in the woods on our property. Plantnet says it’s a hybrid bluebell. Whatever, it’s a gorgeous little flower!
The forest was covered with star flowers this spring! They’re small but stunning with their brilliant yellow stamens! According to Go Botany, “Starflower is one of the few flowers that typically has seven petals, though petal number can vary from five to ten.“
Halifax Public Gardens is another one of my favourite places to visit with camera in hand. You may have seen my blog post a couple of weeks ago. This is one of the most popular images from that gallery.
I couldn’t believe it when this little barred owl landed on a boulder just a few meters from our back door. It was kind enough to pose for a few portrait shots before silently flying off into the forest.
A pair of blue jays built a nest about 4 meters from our front deck this spring. We watched them raise a family of 4 little ones over the month until they finally left the nest on June 29. Here are 3 of my favourite photos from the hundreds that I took during their time with us. All were taken from a respectful distance with a zoom lens to avoid disturbing them.
Did you know that chipmunks LOVE apples? They should only be given as sn occasional treat so as not to interfere with their regular diet. This little one certainly enjoyed his slice of Red Prince!
June is also lupin season in Nova Scotia. They can often be seen along highways and byways across the province. I’m always amazed at the variety of colours although I’d never seen a yellow one until this year.
I LOVE a dramatic sky! The forecast called for a mix of sun and cloud with a chance for thundershowers so I headed for the coast to see if I might get lucky. I didn’t see any lightning but this rain shower was bearing down on me from the west so I grabbed a few images and ran for the car. I made it just in time before the heavens opened.
Thank you for visiting my website! I hope you enjoyed the images and the stories behind them.
