Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of September. It’s a mixture of wildlife, birds and landscapes. There’s a supermoon image for those of you who like night scenes and a couple of shots with my dog Suzy for the canine fans. Enjoy!

I captured this sunset image in the Peggy’s Cove Preservation Area near the Swissair 111 memorial. The reflection in the small tide pool was an added bonus.

This little Eastern Chipmunk is a regular visitor to our patio. He comes by every morning looking for a handout. He’s especially fond of frozen blueberries.

105mm, f/4, ISO 2000, 1/320 sec

Suzy looks forward to our daily hikes in the woods or along repurposed rail trails. We aren’t allowed to take the same hike two days in a row. She’s happiest when she’s the only dog in the woods.

35mm, f/7.1, ISO 400, 1/40 sec

Although this Barred Owl appears to be napping, he was just blinking slowly. I love how peaceful he looks perched atop our fence. I suspect he was waiting for a large toad that lives in our garden to make an appearance.

500mm, f/7.1, ISO 16000, 1/60 sec

This female Cardinal was looking pretty ragged as she patiently waited for my friend to put some sunflower seeds out. There was a fledgeling nearby that was much less patient for her to come and feed him.

500mm, f/7.1, ISO 6400, 1/1000 sec

A nuthatch giving me the stink eye because I didn’t have any sunflower seeds.

500 mm, f/5.6, ISO 2500, 1/1000 sec

I’m not much of a morning person but I occasionally get up at stupid o’clock to shoot a sunrise. I’m glad I did as this was worth the interruption of sleep. The leaves were just beginning to turn and that added a bit of extra “pop” to the image.

47mm, f/ 6.9, ISO 100, 1/15 sec

I love the layers of different colours and textures in this early morning shot!

110mm, f/11, ISO 100, 1/30 sec

Suzy enjoys an adventure along the coast at one of our favourite locations – Polly’s Cove. It’s just a few minutes south of the famous Peggy’s Cove lighthouse.

50mm, f/11, ISO 400, 1/250 sec

An explosion of fall colours!

200mm, f/10, ISO100, 1/10 sec

We came upon a porcupine on one of our coastal hikes. He didn’t seem too concerned about our interrupting his journey. Suzy gave him a wide berth – she had an encounter with one a few years ago and learned her lesson.

105mm, f/6, ISO 640, 1/160 sec

The supermoon rising over Halifax’s MacKay Bridge. The NS Power smokestacks and the ships in Bedford Basin add extra interesting elements to the scene.

Great collection of landscape shots and animal portraits this time. I particularly like the owl and the early morning shot of the sunrise with the beginnings of autumn colors.
