Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of April. Spring is definitely in the air and this month’s favourites reflect the changing season. Enjoy!

This first image is of a Red-winged Blackbird singing his song at Miner’s Marsh in Kentville. It was a chilly morning so his breath is visible against the dark background.

This Blue Jay noticed me pointing my telephoto lens at him so he puffed himself up and started squawking and bouncing up and down. I guess he was trying to scare me away.

I captured this image of a snowshoe hare in April, 2015. It was one of the worst winters on record and food was scarce so this fellow was munching on a shrub in our yard.

I was at Miner’s Marsh in Kentville hoping to shoot birds when I noticed the rising sun was shining on the vegetation behind this tree. I think it makes a great silhouette.

420 mm, f/8, ISO 6400, 1/1600 sec

I noticed this cluster of trees one afternoon when I had my dog Suzy for a walk in the woods. I made a mental note to come back on a foggy day as fog helps create depth in woodland scenes. A number of people commented on how it reminds them of legs with slippers on the feet. Taken in the Proposed Ingram River Wilderness area.

You never know what you’ll see on a hike in the woods on a foggy day. Like this tree monster with its jaws open, waiting to devour unsuspecting hikers. Taken in the Proposed Ingram River Wilderness area.

Grackles are just ordinary looking black birds until the sun hits them and this happens. Captured at Miner’s Marsh in Kentville.

Backlighting with a dark background helps make this tree “pop”. Taken at Miner’s Marsh in Kentville.

A small but mighty beachside waterfall in Margaretsville. A slow shutter speed was used to give the illusion of water flowing. Swimmers often use this waterfall to rinse themselves off after a dip in the Bay of Fundy.

40 mm, f/11, ISO 100, 0.3 sec

A small but gorgeous beach located at Paddy’s Head. It’s a favourite place for SCUBA divers to enter the chilly (no, freezing!) waters of St. Margaret’s Bay.
