It’s that time of the year again – the Great Blue Herons are back from their winter vacation and they’re hungry! Although they can survive winter in the Maritimes, it’s rare to see one until spring. They look awkward on land but they are magnificent when they fly! Here’s a compilation from a couple of recent trips to the shore. I have a long zoom lens so I’m able to photograph them from a distance without disturbing them as they feed. Enjoy!
