Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of July. Landscapes, woodlands, wildlife and even a few flowers make up this month’s gallery. Enjoy!

I shot this from a kayak using a long lens so I wouldn’t disturb the Great Blue Heron as it was busy fishing for breakfast. It took a brief look at us to make sure there was no threat and then went back to work. Kudos to my buddy Kevin for navigating the boat into a perfect position for a great image.

I had to get dirty knees to capture this pitcher plant flower as they are low to the ground and they point downward. Such an unusual flower!

A beautiful country lane along Nova Scotia’s coast. The fog adds a nice element of mystery to the scene.

Location: Bayview Lane, near Black Point

I wouldn’t normally take a photo of a fence but I love how this one flows along, drawing your eye through the scene.

Location: St Margaret’s Bay rail trail, Mill Lake section.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many daisies in one spot! I love how the golden hour light gives the image a three dimensional effect.

RIBBIT! A green frog peering at me from his watery perch. I didn’t have my zoom lens with me so I had to come quite close to capture this photo. It was surprisingly tolerant of my shenanigans.

Location: Five Island Lake, Hubley

I’ve been hoping to shoot this scene on a foggy day for the past couple of years but I never got around to it until this July. I love the patch of ferns in the foreground!

A foggy woodland scene from a recent hike.

Summer sunsets can be dramatic, especially if you throw in a gnarly old pine tree reaching for the heavens.

The simple beauty of a day lily in the garden.

Once again I risked my life to capture Nova Scotia’s wildlife up close and personal. Just look at that stare! It’s a dangerous job but somebody has to do it.

I didn’t bring my “good” camera on the dog walk this evening in July. I wish I did! This was captured with my iPhone. “They” (whoever they are) say that the best camera is the one you have with you. I still wish I’d taken my Canon R5 along.
