Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of August. Coastal scenes, woodlands, birds and even a chipmunk make up this month’s selections. Enjoy!

Indian Island is located in Polly’s Cove, just a short drive from the world famous Peggy’s Cove lighthouse. I made this panorama image by stitching together 7 images of the scene.

Another photo from Polly’s Cove on a gorgeous August day. I set up my camera on a tripod and scurried into the scene just before the timer tripped the shutter.

Suzy loves walks in the woods but she hates having her photo taken. I need to wait until she’s distracted, then I can capture her in the scene. Here she’s looking out over Cranberry Lake in Hubley.

Looking out over a sunset above the cranberry lands in Hubley.

Suzy and Kathy stop to admire the sunset along the shore in the Peggy’s Cove Preservation Area.

Whenever there’s a hurricane spinning offshore I head for the coast. You can capture some epic wave images as the swells crash on the rocks. That’s the iconic Peggy’s Cove lighthouse in the distance.

My buddy Kevin invited me to join him in a kayak trip along the coast. He has a knack for spotting Great Blue Herons. The next three images were captured during that trip.

We live on a lake so we occasionally see loons fishing here during the summer. They mostly keep their distance but this fellow swam close enough for me to capture a great portrait shot just as he lifted his head out of the water.

We’ve lived here for over 30 years but this was the first time we’ve ever seen a Barred Owl up close. He was sitting atop our fence eyeing a toad that lives in our yard. Just look at those eyes! And those talons!!! I’m glad I’m not a toad.

I love it when an animal looks at me while I’m taking their photograph! The eye contact makes for a great connection between the image and the viewer. It’s an added bonus when they stick their tongue out. This little squirt is an Eastern Chipmunk, gnawing on a blueberry.
