Here are some of the most popular images from my Facebook Page for the month of July. Landscapes, birds, flowers and even a butterfly make up this month’s selections. Enjoy!

Cranberry Cove is one of my favourite places to visit. The gnarly trees and the granite cliffs make worthy photography subjects. Throw in a few puffy clouds and what more could you ask for?

This little bandit is a Common Yellowthroat, one of many warblers that return to Nova Scotia every year to breed. He paused during his insect hunting to check me out.

I love a foggy day! It helps add depth to an image by fading out the background. It also adds a bit of mystery by hiding what’s in the distance. This photo was taken from the rail trail at Five Island Lake in Hubley.

This Goldfinch reminds me of the Lone Ranger. Cue the William Tell Overture!

This beauty is a Cabbage White Butterfly. Although it’s pretty, it’s not a friend to gardeners as their caterpillars feed on vegetables. Check out those crazy eyes!

If you wander along Nova Scotia’s coastal trails in early summer you’ll likely stumble upon these beauties – Wild Iris or Blue Flag Iris. Although they’re pretty, their roots are apparently quite toxic.

There’s a gorgeous brook that runs alongside the rail trail in the Fox Hollow neighbourhood in Upper Tantallon. I re-visit the area multiple times a year and it never disappoints! The next 3 images were all captured one foggy morning in July.

You drive past Boutilier’s Cove on your way to Peggy’s Cove. I love how the trees frame the cove and those fluffy white clouds are like the icing on the cake! Speaking of food, make sure you stop at the Finer Diner. They make a delicious lobster roll.

Great Blue Herons are one of my favourite birds! They usually fly away from you when they see you coming but this fellow was kind enough to fly towards me as he took to the air. Captured from a kayak in the Lunenburg area of Nova Scotia.

Mmmmmm, sushi for breakfast! Another Great Blue Heron in the Lunenburg area.
